Nissan Swap Hell

I've owned two Nissan Pulsars back in the early nineties and they were probably the most fun little cars I've ever driven. Rebuilding the motor in one, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. Especially when you don't have a garage to do it in and the specimen you're dealing with had more problems than a movie star checked in for drug rehab. After two days of fiddling to make it start because the wife was sure it had plenty of gas in it, I finally got it started by pouring two gallons in the tank. Heck, I don't blame her. I've done much worse.
The most complex portion was switching the original automatic for a manual two years older. I'd like to do a write up on this but there's probably limited (if any) interest in it.

I've had my engine for 4500 miles now with no problems. Love the car and the performance of Nissan radiator. The mileage is lower than that stated on the EPA window sticker. But I am getting around 33 MPG with mostly highway driving. Wish it was a bit better. One thing I've learned is that using the cruise control gives poorer mileage, so I have stopped using ti to squeeze more miles from a gallon. Not at all sorry for buying it.
